PMMA-Based Universal Primer

PMMA-Based Universal Primer provides excellent adhesion on to absorbent and non-absorbent substrates.

This solvent-free, 2-component methacrylate resin system is a high performance universal primer that delivers excellent adhesion on to concrete, cement screed, asphalt as well as tiles and metals such as untreated steel, stainless steel, aluminium, galvanized sheet metal and other non-absorbent substrates.

This Primer is used in conjunction with PMMA-Based Waterproofing Coating, PMMA-Based Top Coat / Sealer Coat and PMMA-Based Self Levelling Mortar. It has a Hardening Time of just 35 – 45 minutes (at 20°C  and 1.5% PMMA Catalyst pbw.)

What Is PMMA-Based Universal Primer?

PMMA is a two-part methyl methacrylate-based acrylic resin, which cures very rapidly once the catalyst is added shortly before the application. Hence, both the installer and the end customer benefit from labour time which is reduced to a minimum.

Universal Primer ensures the surface is quickly ready for the application of the PMMA-Based Waterproofing Coating, PMMA-Based Top Coat / Sealer Coat or PMMA-Based Self Levelling Mortar systems.

PMMA-Based Universal Primer Applications

PMMA-Based Universal Primer is quickly and easily applied, providing excellent adhesion to a number of absorbent and non-absorbent substrates. It’s ideal for substrates such as concrete, cement screed, asphalt as well as tiles and metals such as untreated steel, stainless steel, aluminium, galvanized sheet metal and more.

When applying the Universal Primer, all areas must be clean and dry and free from dust, dirt, corrosion and general surface
contamination. All oils, grease, etc. should be removed with suitable degreasing solution.
Steel surfaces should be preferably Bristle Blasted / Grit blasted to SA 2½ in accordance with DIN 55929.
Non-ferrous metals must be cleaned and prepared by Bristle Blasting or Grit blasting.
